Overture Airliner

Core Specifications

The flagship commercial airliner designed for speed, safety, and sustainability.

Mach 1.7 4,250nm Range 64-80 Pax
  • Cruise Speed: Mach 1.7 (approx. 1,300 mph / 2,100 km/h) over water.
  • Overland Speed: Mach 0.94 (approx. 720 mph) - 20% faster than subsonic.
  • Range: 4,250 nautical miles (7,871 km).
  • Capacity: 64–80 Passengers (All Premium).
  • Length: 201 ft (61 m).
  • Wingspan: 106 ft (32 m).
  • Altitude: 60,000 ft (Cruising).
  • Takeoff Noise: Meets ICAO Chapter 14 levels (same as current widebodies).
Design & Aerodynamics

Advanced composite fuselage optimized for "Area Ruling" to minimize drag.

Gull Wings: Distinctive delta wing shape improves supersonic efficiency while maintaining low-speed stability for standard airport operations.

Composite Structure: Carbon fiber construction allows for complex aerodynamic shaping (fuselage tapering) impossible with aluminum.

4-Engine Layout: Uses 4 wing-mounted engines to balance weight and thrust requirements, removing the need for afterburners (quieter takeoff).

Passenger Experience

An all-business class configuration focused on productivity and comfort.

  • Configuration: 1-1 seating (every seat is an aisle and window).
  • Windows: Large personal windows for every passenger.
  • Screens: Large entertainment displays for flight data and media.
  • Atmosphere: Cruising at 60,000 ft offers smoother air (above turbulence) and a view of the curvature of the Earth.

XB-1 Demonstrator

"Baby Boom" Technology Demonstrator
Status: FLOWN

The world's first independently developed supersonic jet, paving the way for Overture.

Mach 2.2 Design Carbon Fiber Supersonic: Jan 2025
Key Stats
  • Length: 62.6 ft.
  • Wingspan: 21 ft.
  • Engines: 3x GE J85-15.
  • Crew: 1 Test Pilot.
Achievements
  • Maiden Flight: March 22, 2024 (Mojave Air & Space Port).
  • Supersonic Flights: Jan 28, 2025 — reached Mach 1.12 (750 mph) on first supersonic flight; Feb 10, 2025 — reached Mach 1.18 on second supersonic flight. Six total sound-barrier crossings (3 per flight), all without audible sonic boom reaching the ground (Boomless Cruise). XB-1 program retired after completing 13 flights.
  • Systems Validated:
    • Augmented Reality Vision System (replacing droop nose).
    • Digitally-optimized aerodynamics.
    • Engine air intake performance.
AR Vision System

XB-1 uses cameras and screens instead of a moving "droop nose" (like Concorde) for runway visibility.

Symphony™ Engine

Purpose-Built Supersonic Propulsion
40,000 lbs Thrust

A bespoke medium-bypass turbofan engine designed specifically for Overture, replacing earlier plans to use Rolls-Royce derivatives.

Technical Highlights
  • Architecture: Twin-spool, medium-bypass turbofan.
  • No Afterburner: Achieves supersonic cruise without fuel-guzzling afterburners.
  • Intake: Axisymmetric supersonic intake (quiet & efficient).
  • Turbine: Passively cooled high-pressure turbine.
  • Maintenance: Designed for 25% more time-on-wing than derivatives.
Development Team
  • Design: Florida Turbine Technologies (FTT).
  • Manufacturing: GE Additive (Colibrium) - 3D printed components.
  • Assembly/MRO: StandardAero.

Partners & Orders

130 Aircraft in Order Book (Orders + Pre-orders).

  • United Airlines: 15 firm orders + 35 options.
  • American Airlines: 20 firm orders + 40 options.
  • Japan Airlines (JAL): Strategic partner & investor (20 pre-orders).

Sustainability

Net Zero Carbon

Overture is designed to run on 100% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) .

  • SAF Partners: Dimensional Energy, AIR COMPANY (CO2-to-fuel tech).
  • Goal: Net zero carbon emissions for Overture fleet operations.
  • Noise: "Community Noise" compliant (quiet takeoff; Boomless Cruise over land).
  • Boomless Cruise / Overland Rules: Jun 2025 — Trump executive order directed FAA to lift 52-year overland supersonic ban for aircraft that produce no audible boom. Mar 2026 — U.S. House passed the Supersonic Aviation Modernization Act (SAM) by voice vote, requiring FAA to revise rules within one year. Overture's Boomless Cruise targets up to Mach 1.3 over land with no audible boom.
